Description of 'The Street' Night Club North Parade Skegness Phone (UK) 01754 766650

The property is situated at the North End of the sea front of Skegness opposite a 700 car, local council amenity car par park, for which there is no charge after 7pm. The entrance to "The Street" has a public house on one side and a chip shop the other that charges too much. Within one hundred yards there is a large cash bingo club which is OK, a fun fair that's nice and so's one of the owners Debbie, a seal sanctuary and zoo and a new white knuckle ride development that scares me.

The total area of the building is in excess of twenty thousand square feet on one level . The whole building has been completely rewired, sound proofed and fire proofed to latest Health & Safety recommendations just prior to its opening in May 97. The Fire and Local Authority issued fire limits for 600 guests in the Crypt and 1500 in the street making a total of 2100, thus establishing "The Street" as possibly the largest themed night club area in Europe certainly in Britain that means you are safe inside.

The lighting display is unsurpassed as all areas are controlled by a Show-Cad system and is "a must see to appreciate" experience. The entertainment's license is up to 2 am Monday to Saturday and 11 pm Sunday on the entire building, a Just ices special hours certificate also follows these times.

Customers enter "The Street" through large automatic sliding doors and this entrance area incorporates fast food outlets and pay telephones, along with some scattered wooden table seating. Through an arch beneath an glass atrium, one enters the main area of "the Street" this paved area having the usual street furniture, also a band stand upon which groups can perform. When the band stand is not in use by groups it can be used as a small disco dance floor, having lighting in the roof of the band stand. The French Cafe, Holiday and American Bars all have wide openings to them enabling customers to gain service from the street and also view the band stand. The Theatre, Sixties, Jazz and Irish bars are somewhat more enclosed and this enables different individual music to be played in each adding to the overall themes.

All bars are sound proofed to some extent so that the music played in the street does not detract from the theme of these bars. Although when a thunder storm is programmed in the street this can be heard and seen through the windows of the bars as it would a house. The light display in the street can depict many things from storm clouds to an early evening sky, all projected on the curved ceiling screen stretched between the false second story of the buildings containing the bars. A ten foot automatic video screen is in the center of the street on which can be played video, live TV (inc. Sky) or any of the closed circuit TV cameras (there are sixteen all recorded through a multiplex system). Walking the length of, or standing in the street sounds can be heard coming out of the various bars but still with the entertainment of the street present.

At the end of the street is Madam Fifis' Little Whore House (with false door and display window where people do try the door knob) along side the entrance to The Crypt, here ultra violet light plays a large part in displaying the various murals and cast gargoyle heads that hang over the Crypt bar (which the scantily clad bar maids insist at times dancing on). The Crypt is completed in a dark dungeon theme with the mock stone work being picked out in reflective UV paint, music and light shows are computer controlled by the DJ in his box overlooking the Dance floor and small stage.

The whole place is designed to change constantly so some of these details may change quicker than this page is updated but one thing is for sure The Street is different and there for a great night out.

Heating is supplied by gas blown air heaters two in the street and one in the Crypt, air conditioning plant is installed at the rear of the building and supplies the Crypt and street. Security is via a monitored system with CCTV back up (24 hour recorded)
